The Wrong Mountain

On July the 1st I went to te Rondo Theatre to watch a play named, The Wrong Mountain. The idea of this play was based on the life of the director, Cath Willacy. The play started at the deck where the main character, Beth was on a ladder cleaning out the gutter then her cleaner asked why she is up the ladder at 'her age'. After that Beth who wanted to defy that she was old boldly said that she will climb Mount Everest even though she had no experience in any climbing.

She kept her claim and aimed to climb Mount Everest so that she doesn't lose face with her friends. Most of the time she was sidetracked from her goals by falling in love with her new neighbour and trying to not feel like giving up. Beth got lots of support on the way mainly from her nephew and some of her two friends, Kaz and Val. During the play there was many scenes that you could relate to.  For me the scene that stood out the most was when they started to talk about the 'masks we wear'. I took that as hiding yourself and not telling who you are actually are but pretend to be someone that other people will like.

One of my favourite scene was when Beth went to the gym to prepare herself for the climb to Mount Everes and the gym instructor did some intense fitness moves and made it look like nothing and after that told Beth that this was the warm up.

On the booklet that I got which had the list of the scenes, the character and the actors. At the actor's profile many of them stated that it was a big opportunity to get a chance to have a role in this play. One of the actors who acted as Beth's nephew stated, "Taking part in something original like this is a privelige and a challenge." Personally I strongly recommend this play because it is hilarious and includes many life lessons that you can learn from.
